Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Barrister Harun ar Rashid has been appointed as the new director general of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
He will replace the present director general M Khurshid Hossain.
It was stated in a circular issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday (May 29).
The circular also mentioned that the order would be effective from June 5 next.
In another separate order, present RAB DG Khurshid Hossain was sent on retirement.
